Tour Overview

Day to Day Tour Plan

Day 1: Nairobi – Moshi

Pick up from your residential house will be as early as 0600am, then transferred to the city center where we catch up with the Shuttle Bus which goes to Tanzania. They normally leave at 0800am but due to the traffic jam we have to pick you early because the shuttles are scheduled to leave at 0800am. The travel takes like 3 hours to arrive at the boarder, then we go through the migration process as well as for those who would like to obtain visa they can do so at the Namanga Boarder which is about 50usd. There after we proceed to Arusha in the next 2 hours, on arrival we will have  packed lunch as we head on to Moshi for the next 1.5hours. On arrival we check in Qwine hotel in Moshi for dinner and overnight as we meet the Crews.

Day 2 : Moshi – Mandera

Pick Up from your hotel in  Moshi at 8.00 am drive to Moshi then on the Marangu Park Gate the set of point for your three hour hike to Mandara Hut in which you cover 9 km. Here we are at 2,774m above sea level on your first overnight on Kilimanjaro.

Day 3: Mandara – Horombo

Begin your trek to Horombo Hut in an average hiking time of 8 hours, lunch en route. In clear weather Mawenzi and Kibo peaks can be seen.Dinner and overnight at the hut, 3,761m.

Day 4: Horombo – Kibo

After breakfast, we climb very gradually towards the lunar desert of the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo hike 13 km to Kibo hut, 4,732 m above sea level in an average hiking time of 6 hours. On our way we will now encounter spectacular mountain vegetation like Lobelia, giant cactus and groundsel. The remainder of the day is spent relaxing in preparation for the final ascent before a very early night.

Day 5: Kibo – Horombo via Gil man Point and Uhuru Peak.

Wake up at 02.00 a.m. for a pre-down attempt of the summit. It takes 5 hours to Gilman’s Point 5,681 m above sea level. From Gilman’s it takes 1 hour to summit Uhuru Peak, the highest point in African at 5,896 m above sea level. Descend to Horombo hut for overnight.

Day 6: Horombo – Moshi or Arusha

After breakfast, descend to the Marangu Park Gate via Mandara.You will be transferred to Arusha where the Kilimanjaro Treking adventure comes to an end after successfully getting to the Highest Mountain in Africa as you wait the following morning to do the safari

Day 7: Arusha –Serengeti

After breakfast Pick up from your hotel at 0730am then drive to Serengeti national park. On arrival, proceed for the afternoon take a game drive in the park, The park covers 12,944km2 of open plains making it one of the largest in the world. The rocky outcrops commonly known as Moru kopjes in the eastern part of the park are of scenic beauty and occasionally cats can be seen lazing on them. The park contains vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other antelopes. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Seronera Camp or Lodge

Day 8: Full Day Serengeti Park

After the breakfast proceed for the whole day game drive in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the  in the mid afternoon. The term Serengeti means endless plains in Masai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah. This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. The Serengeti National park is a arguably the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world with over 3 million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen there including the “big 5” – Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Other common species found here includes hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkey and a profusion of over 500 species of birds. In May or early June, huge herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra begin their annual spectacular migration northwards. In their wake follow predators, lion, cheetah and wild dogs with vultures circling overhead! Come back to the Camp or Lodge  for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 : Serengeti to Ngorongoro.

Wake up call at 0600am have just a cup of hot coffee, then proceed for the early morning game drive, this early morning game drive is very important as you will be able to see the morning kill from the big five, this normally takes you until 0930hrs, then return to the Lodge for the main breakfast, After the breakfast check out the camp and proceed for the final game drive as you check out the Park and  proceed to Ngorongoro Crater,Then the night will be spent on Ngorongoro Simba Camp. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge or Camp

Day 10 : Ngorongoro Crater Full Day – Arusha

On this day the breakfast will be served as early as 0700hrs. After the breakfast check out the Lodge early in the morning as at 0730am, we will descend to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day exploration game drive tour. We take a picnic lunch and this will be served in the crater next to the hippo pool, at this point you will be able to stretch your feet and visit the washrooms. The Ngorongoro Crater is recognized as a UNESCO protected World Heritage Site and forms part of an international biosphere reserve. The crater measures approximately 300 sq km and measures about 19 km across. The floor of the crater is 600 meters below the rim, (which is over 2200 m.a.s.l), and is home to an abundance of wildlife including black rhino, lion, cheetah, buffalo, elephants and a plethora of antelope species. Late in the afternoon we ascend the crater and then proceed to Arusha with a drop off to the Hotel of your choice at around 1830hrs

Day 11: Arusha – Nairobi JKIA – UK

After the breakfast check out the hotel and be picked up by our driver and transfer you to the Shuttle heading back to Nairobi arriving early afternoon with a drop off in JKIA to catch up with your flight in the evening.

What to bring on trekking either Kilimanjaro

  1. Waterproof rucksack with day pack
  2. Sleeping bag (covering at least 3 seasons)
  3. Roll mats and insulation pads
  4. Comfortable hiking boots, light walking trainers thongs (flip – flops)
  5. Gaiters (useful when encountering snow)
  6. Wooden walking stick / ski pole
  7. Sunglasses or snow – goggles, sun hat, balaclava or woolen hat
  8. Warm scarf, gloves, mittens and thermal underwear
  9. Sweaters / jumpers, anorak / raincoat, water and windproof pants, jackets, t-shirt, several pairs of socks
  10. Long sleeved shirt with collar, small towel, toiletries and toilet paper
  11. Sunscreen and lip salve
  12. Flash light (head mounted preferable) and spare batteries
  13. Water bottle
