Itinerary

Pick up from your hotel will be as early as 0630am so that you can be able to capture most of the animals early morning before the sun gets hot. 1 Day Nairobi National Park also offers a short self guided nature trail patrolled by KWS Rangers leads out of a shaded picnic area along the Athi River and offers the opportunity of viewing Hippos, crocodile, Monkey, Terrapin and a large variety of birds. The Nature trails are connected via a foot bridge to Olmakao Masai Cultural Village where visitors have an opportunity to interact with the indigenous Masai Community. We also have Nairobi Safari walk just before and to the right of the Nairobi National Park main gate offers the rare chance of viewing different animals behaving as they would in their natural habitat. Traversed by panoramic raised timbered boardwalks it also makes for an informative walk and an enjoyable family outing. The Park has an Altitude of 1540 - 1780m and covers 117sqkm, its only 10Km from the city center and was Gazetted in December 1946 as Kenya First National Park.   The Climate January-March is hot and dry while April - June is hot and wet and July - October is very warm and wet. The Park has three main Zones, dry highland forest at the western end, Riverine - forested areas to the south and Rolling Grassland which cover 98% of the park. After exploring the park in the morning hours until 1100am head straight to Elephant orphanage where you will have an opportunity to interact with the baby elephants until 12pm. When a tiny new-born elephant is orphaned, it is often because its mother and family have been killed to serve the brutal ivory trade. For an elephant, family is all important; a calf’s very existence depends upon its mother's milk for the first two years of life. In Kenya an Elephant Nursery exists nestled within Nairobi National Park under the auspices of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which is overseen by Dr Dame Daphne Sheldrick, whose elephant experience spans a lifetime. This pioneering organization, which works in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service offers hope for any orphaned elephant fortunate enough to be found alive. It took Daphne Sheldrick nearly three decades of trial and error to perfect the milk formula and complex husbandry necessary to rear an orphaned infant African elephant yet today, with support from many caring people world-wide, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is proud to have saved over 150 orphaned infant calves, which would otherwise have perished.   More importantly, every one of these orphans can look forward to a quality of life in wild terms, living free in Tsavo East National Park protected by their new extended orphaned family and friends amongst the wild herds. There after be transferred back to the hotel or drop off to the airport to catch up with your flight to the next destination.
