Itinerary
Depart Nairobi and head North towards the Rift Valley On route we will stop for views across the great Rift Valley, Mt Longonot. After, we drive the short distance to the entrance of Hell’s Gate National Park. Soon after you enter the park the impressive landscape unfolds before you, and you are transported to a dramatic, semi-arid world, with sheer rugged cliffs, open plains and deep concealed gorges. There are many activities you can do within Hell’s Gate including, walking, cycling, rock climbing, bird watching and trekking through the gorge amongst the geysers – the choice is yours. Picnic lunch in the park. Late afternoon we depart Hell’s Gate for Fisherman’s camp on the shore of Lake Naivasha, for a well-earned hot shower, dinner and overnight camping
After breakfast, we proceed south passing through Naivasha town and drive around the southern end of the lake, past the flower farms to Else-mere. Else-mere is home to the late Joy and George A damson, of Born Free fame. This is now a conservation center and museum where you will enjoy an hour-long boat ride on Lake Naivasha, before a delicious lunch in their beautiful gardens. You can look out for some of the hundreds of bird species as well as the hippos (which you may hear at camp tonight!). During lunch you may even have the company of black and white Columbus monkeys.
After lunch we proceed to Crater Lake Conservancy Area where we walk up to the rim of the beautiful volcanic crater for views down to the emerald-green crater lake. Flamingo populations have boomed here recently, having migrated from Lake Nakuru. With your guide you can walk through the conservancy area trekking after plains animals including giraffe, eland and antelope, while admiring the various species of birds and plants. Return to Else mere for afternoon tea, then Fisherman’s Camp for dinner and overnight.
After the breakfast check out the camp and drive to Lake Nakuru, this normally takes like 1 hour to get there, on arrival check proceed on to the gate and have the check in routine with the payments of the park fees, on this day we will have prepared for you the picnic lunch, we enter Lake Nakuru National Reserve, which is famous for the thousands of flamingo that inhabit the shores of the lake. In recent times, the water level of the lake has fluctuated greatly and this has affected the numbers of resident flamingos. But perhaps most importantly, this Reserve was established as a rhino sanctuary, and black and white rhino are frequently seen on game drives - along with buffalo, lion, giraffe, waterbuck, and the elusive leopard. Late afternoon, depart for Hostel which is inside the park for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up call around 0600am and then proceed to the early morning game drive, this is the most exciting game drive as you will be able to capture the early morning kill from the big five, the game drive normally takes like 2 hours and then return to the Hostel for main breakfast, there after proceed to Mt. Longonot, this will be hiking adventure, and its one of the greatest event along the Mount, with the help of the guide go round the crater, take the photos and then descend down then proceed back to Nairobi arriving late afternoon with a drop off to the hotel or back to the Airport.
