An early morning start from Kampala takes you southwest and across the Equator. You drive through Savannah grasslands seeing banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curving horns. You then ascend into the Kigezi highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Africa”, with terraced farming and mountain scenery. Drive through to the gorilla sanctuary. Overnight at you Lake Kitandara Camp,
An early rise being the best time to enjoy the beauty and freshness of the forest, home of the mountain gorillas. After a short briefing by the guides, proceed through dense bush to trek for these endangered animals. Other primates living in the forest include the black-and-white Columbus monkey, red tail monkey and chimpanzee. Return to your at Lake Kitandara Camp, dinner and overnight
After breakfast, drive back to Kampala with an en route lunch at Lake View Hotel in Mbarara. Transfer to Entebbe to catch up with your flight to Arusha for Tanzania Safari Dinner and overnight in ilboru safari lodge
After breakfast Pick up from your hotel at 0730am then drive to Serengeti national park. On arrival, proceed to the Serengeti Kati Kati Luxury Tented Camp. In the afternoon take a game drive in the park, The park covers 12,944km2 of open plains making it one of the largest in the world. The rocky outcrops commonly known as Moru kopjes in the eastern part of the park are of scenic beauty and occasionally cats can be seen lazing on them. The park contains vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other antelopes. Dinner and overnight at Kati Kati Luxury Tented Camp
Breakfast at around 0800am. Proceed with morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti with a lunch and leisure break at the lodge in the mid afternoon. The term Serengeti means endless plains in Masai language. In the central plains there are carnivores like leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah. This park is normally the scene of the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra that occurs between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Varied bird species can be seen here including eagles, ducks, geese, egrets, vultures, secretary birds, ibis, stork, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl. The Serengeti National park is a arguably the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world with over 3 million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen there including the “big 5” – Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Other common species found here includes hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkey and a profusion of over 500 species of birds. In May or early June, huge herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra begin their annual spectacular migration northwards. In their wake follow predators, lion, cheetah and wild dogs with vultures circling overhead! Come back to the Kati Kati Luxury Tented Camp for dinner and overnight.
Wake up call at 0600am, have just a cup of hot coffee then proceed for the early morning game drive, this morning game drive is very important as you will be able to witness the early morning kills from the big five. After the game drive drive back to the Kati Kati Luxury Tented Camp at 0930am for the main breakfast, there after check out and proceed to Ngorongoro arriving late afternoon, check in Rhino Valley Lodge for Dinner and overnight
Wake up as early as 0600am have your breakfast and then proceed down the crater for the full day tour. The crater has a high concentration of game as they gather to graze on the grasslands and drink water around the permanent water points on the floor of the crater. The wildlife includes lion, elephant, wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, hyena and buffalo. All are fairly easy to spot and can be found just lying on the roads. Ngorongoro Crater also serves as a sanctuary for the endangered black rhino, thanks to its steep walls, which form a natural barrier against potential poachers. The swamps on the floor of the crater are home to many hippo, which are a breathtaking site from the picnic spots. Lake Magadi is a saltpan, which attracts a large number of birds, the most spectacular being the flamingo. Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera, and lays claim to being the sixth largest caldera in the world – 19.2 kilometers in diameter, 610meters deep and 304 km² in area. The crater rim, where the lodges and the tented camps are, stands at 7216 feet (2200 meters) above sea level, and 610 ft above the floor of the crater. The floor of the crater, which is slightly oval in shape, is 278 square kilometers (100 square miles). The ever-changing weather patterns provide a dramatic backdrop to the scenery and wildlife. After exploring the crater the whole day ascend and proceed back to Arusha arriving late evening, with a drop off to the hotel as you wait to be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport {KIA} to catch up with your flight back back home the following morning
